Película mexicana "El Ángel Exterminador’ llega a la sala del TIFF

Filmmaker James Ivory's "Elegant Pairings" Program at TIFF's Cinematheque will present the Mexican film "The Exterminating Angel" [El Angel Exterminador] on Sunday July 15 at 8:00pm.

"The Exterminating Angel" (Mexico, 1962) was directed by Luis Buñuel and is rated number 16 of the top 100 Mexican films. The film's photographer was Gabriel Figueroa.

The film is about a group of high society dinner guests who find themselves inexplicably unable to leave the living room. Their behaviour deteriorates from cordial and pleasant to rude and tense.

In the cast are, among others, Silvia Pinal, Enrique Rambal, Claudio Brook, Jacqueline Anere, Ofelia Guilmáin and Tito Junco.

The "Elegant Pairings" Program includes 13 other films such as "The Age of Innocence," by Martin Scorsese; "The Europeans," by James Ivory; "Charulata," by Satyajit Ray; and "Bombay Talkie," by James Ivory.
